For me you’ve been a tree
Standing tall and strong
Stretching out to reach
Me in my stricken song
Your years of waxing wisdom
Bending down with care
With shelter in my storm
And kindness none compare
And planted by a stream
You’re green and living rare
This spring you spread your grace
I marvel with a stare
The weather lashed about me
And lost in misery mare
You leaned to lend your leaves
And healed my disrepair
Composed I venture out
The sun now lights my feet
And looking back I wonder
If again we’ll ever meet
