These footsteps that you left here
In my mud strewn mire
You trudged upon my year
To aid my coastline dire
A foot-saint come and spake hear
Into my eerie shire
You harkened to my muddied ear
With careful friendly fire
Looking back I see them
On my muddied shore
Washed beside my ocean
Whose tide I did abhor
I’d wondered unforgotten
Back down that peril lane
And saw your footprints linger
Permanently lain
A sedimentary home
Now crowned in my remain
Like fossils into mudstone
And no more is my bane
Foot-stains slowly fade here
Upon my limping heart
Yet marks I have I treasure
Like jewels upon my hearth
