I am not. Nor am I. Or am I?
Who am I? Who will I be?
Or become? Will I come?
I never am. We never are.
Like rivers, like any thing,
No thing, nothing, or no one is—
Except for One;
He alone Is.
We can never point at any thing and say, “There it is.”
Much less ourselves and say, “Here you are.”
Let alone, “Here I am.”
I am not who I am.
Nor am I who I become.
I do not become who I am.
What am I? Who will I be?
I become who I become.
I am becoming who I am becoming,
Because I become who I become.
Yes, I am becoming.
Because God is who He is—
And nothing else is.
He says, “I Am Who I Am”;
He alone says so and can.
Yet He is no longer alone.
From Him and through Him and to Him were all things,
And have become, are becoming,
And will become what or who He says and does.
Creation is what He does; He is always doing—
Never resting, never stopping, never sleeping;
Always working, always making, always shaping,
Just as He is always living, speaking, and giving.
It was and is, and will become,
What it became, is becoming, and will become,
Without end, for as long as the living God fills all things,
And in Him all things exist and have their being.
Will I what?
Come to who?
Become who I become.
The One and the You.
Come to who?
Become who I become.
The One and the You.
