Flutterflies

Silent like an owl
Defenselessly by
Save a zig and a zag
The butter and moth fly

In a fluttering line
Up through the sky
Foiling bird or bat
Rising up on high

A patterned display
Catching their eye
A grimace and a glare
Giving fear if they pry

A cunning ploy
A subtle lie
Working a treat
If preying they try

Dark and bold
Eyebrows raise
Big bright centre
Staring gaze

Though striking mimicry
Only beauty fills my eyes
If they’re only to beware
Why appear so fair and wise?
