Papa Joe-peep has missed his sheep
And doesn’t know where to mind them
Make a new home and stay not alone
Awaiting their turns beside them
Papa Joe-peep had missed his sheep
And didn’t know where to mind them
Left all alone and losing his home
Without his peeps beside him
Papa Joe-peep fell fast asleep
And dreamt that he heard them weeping
But when he awoke, he found it a joke
For they were still all a-bleating
Then up he took his paternal crook
Determined for to mind them
He sought them indeed, but it made his heart bleed
For they'd kept to their own without him
It happened one day, his lambkins did stray
Into his meadow hard by
There they espied their Pap by their side
Hung out on a tree to dry
Joe-peep heaved a sigh and wiped his eye
And over the hillocks went rambling
And tried what he could, as a shepherdad should
To tack each lamb again to his patriarkin
