One Sol

I missed my midday Summer skies
In the noon-grey of my long Julys
When days stopped short and dark dragged on
And I'd stay yet hide, though my leaves had died

I fan a little orange coal
In the lonely cold of my daily soul
Morning breaks and enters the tomb
To another night without Sun in sight

My fire fears not its blackened skies
Its smoke will bloody the brightest lights
A star won't freeze in its empty space
But I lost my spark in this shrouded place

One sol, still hidden in the park alone
Where I lost my shine and my heart went stone
In that empty tomb, I found my sight
I saw Christ is mine and a new-day light
