Dozens & Doesn’ts

A dozen doesn’t equate to 12—
don’t be absurd; it is only a word.

Twelve is not a word; it’s a number—
it’s not like thunder; it’s no wonder.

A number or a word,
it dozent mean I’m a nerd—
doz it?—or dz it?

It dozent—dos it,
’cause a dozent is a nerd,
and I’m no dozent—
I’m barely heard.
(I have no herd!)

How many dozen understand?

If twelve is a word and a number,
is 12 a real word too?
Why is 12 not in the dictionary?
Why can’t I Scrabble it with my lexiconary?

Is 12 spelled one plus two,
or twice writ ten?
Is it phonetical too?
Be precise: false or true?

Twit-twoo—twice twit-ten!

A dozen doesn’t doze—
neither in ozone nor zen.
And like Oz’s great wizard,
it doesn’t mean it’s odd.
