In the Finishing—And in Beginning

It was time:—

There were heavens:
space and heat and gas—

There was earth:
solid matter and mass—

There were waters:
molten deeps and seas—

There was time:
to create and finish and make complete:

In beginning to form the material whole,
God began at the core of the material hole;

In starting His work to furnish His home,
God made His house fit and set for His throne.

He began His work which He has made with a week—

That would end
when He ceased to see it in need;

Of what He could see
would make it good;

As a place of His own
for Him to be;

For His image and likeness
for Him to see.

In finishing, by the seventh day,
God completes His work which He has made;

The ending of the void
in want of shape—

To have, and to hold,
and in the end, be whole:

For there was absence:
of form and of function—

And there was absence:
of firmus and of fullness—

And there was absence:
of ether and of fillment—

And on the face of the deep
was darkness—

And the Spirit of God,
on the face of the waters,

Fluttering,
as with the wings of above.

And God says,
“Let be”;
and it is.

And God sees all that He has done,
and behold:
Very good!

And the heavens and earth are completed,
And all their host—
by the seventh day;

All arranged by Him
in hostly array.

In finishing,
God had furnished them all;

His hollow hall
was fashioned and full.

And on His work
which He had made,
God blesses the seventh day;

For in it,
He ceases from all His work,

And sanctifies it
for ceasing from all He had done,

Which He had—
for making—
worked and made,

And in that day,
it is laid complete:

For Him to fill
and stay
and rest His feet.
